Ryan, Tom

Tom Ryan’s love of Western history and outdoor life is evident in his work. In the summer of 1958, Ryan took a sketching expedition to the West and reinforced his desire not only to paint western life but to live in the West as well. He visited the Four Sixes Ranch in Guthrie, Texas to do his first assignment for Brown & Bigelow and gained firsthand knowledge for his famous paintings of contemporary cowboy life. His oil painting “Sixty Years in the Saddle” is part of the permanent collection in the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.
